Amount of food for your puppy

8-12 weeks old: For the first month of your pup’s life with you, you will want to keep a fresh bowl of food out at all time. This is known as free-feed. The reason for this is so your pup can eat whenever they want because they can get hypoglycemia due to their small size. Be sure to keep food fresh and not just top it off. I suggest putting out a small amount of food and replacing it as they finish it. 3-12 months old: For your pup’s first year (after the one month of free-feed), you should feed them 3 times a day. If you won’t be there for their second meal, it’s okay to leave it with them while you’re gone.
